Ava's progress
Year 5 · English & Maths with Holly · Updated Tue 12 Aug
Holly's overview
Ava has had a really settled few weeks. Her reading confidence is growing lovely and quickly, and she's starting to explain her maths reasoning out loud, which is a big step. Nothing to worry about at all, just keep going!

Reading Tue 12 Aug · 5:00pm
Ava read a chapter of The Firework-Maker's Daughter beautifully and answered every inference question. She's really thinking about why characters act as they do now.
-
Maths Thu 7 Aug · 4:30pm
We worked on equivalent fractions with fraction strips. A tricky topic and Ava stuck with it brilliantly. A little more practice at home will help it stick, worksheet added to Resources.

Writing Tue 5 Aug · 5:00pm
Lovely setting description using expanded noun phrases. Next we'll focus on varying sentence openers so her writing flows even more.
Current targets

- Vary sentence openers in writing
- Read 15 minutes a day at home
- Secure 6, 7 and 8 times tables
